Mr. Skiven retired from General Motors after 42 years, his last assignment was Executive Director—Worldwide Facilities Group which was responsible for providing management in the facilities management, utilities, capital construction and environmental segments, allowing the General Motors clients to focus on their core business. The result of the single facilities management approach was significant structural cost savings, improved utilization of corporate assets and development of a talented global organization.
Since joining General Motors Mr. Skiven has worked in various engineering and management operations, including engineering group manager- utilities and environmental for Fisher Body, and Plant Engineer at Fisher Body Trenton Plant. In 1985 he was appointed Manager of Facilities for the Saturn Corporation and led the design team for the integrated facility in Spring Hill, Tennessee. In 1992 Mr. Skiven was appointed to the position of Director of Plant Environment for General Motors until his appointment as Executive Director of the Worldwide Facilities Group in 1993. In 2008 he was elected to the General Motors environmental and energy wall of fame as it’s first recipient. He was also elected to the Wayne Sate University Engineering Wall of Fame.
Mr. Skiven has a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from General Motors Institute (Kettering) and a Masters of Science degree from Wayne State University. He is also a Professional Engineer.
Mr. Skiven has been a frequent advisor to a number of federal facilities organizations including the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air Force and the General Services Administration. He is currently consulting in the facilities related fields.
